About
All proceeds from the tour go back into the community in various ways. Over the past few years, we have provided funding for an assortment of beautification projects in Crescent Hill. The wedding garden at the Peterson-Dumesnil House was one of our major projects constructed over several years and our tours make it possible for the Garden Club to provide numerous interesting and unusual plantings for the Peterson-Dumesnil garden. In 2009 we provided perennials and shrubs in the renovation of Kennedy Court Park. We have contributed trees and perennials to Barret School and plantings to the North Hite median, the Reservoir Park entrance, and Frankfort Avenue bus stops. One year we assisted the Zoom Group and their garden project for adults with special needs.
The Crescent Hill Garden Club has sponsored educational programs on garden design and practices. We have also made substantial donations of garden books and periodicals to the Crescent Hill Branch of the Louisville Free Public Library. We have funded a program to plant rare and unusual trees in the neighborhood, donated funds to Operation Brightside, and conducted an award program to recognize horticultural excellence. |
