About Us
The Crescent Hill Garden Club Mission Statement
The Crescent Hill Garden Club is an informal group sharing a love of gardening and the Crescent Hill neighborhood. Each member brings a special gift to the group through different personalities, gardening experience and level of expertise. Members strive to enhance the unique Crescent Hill neighborhood through horticultural beautification and community education. The Crescent Hill Garden Club seeks to "grow the gardener" through service, informal education and camaraderie between members.
Out and About in the Community
The Crescent Hill Garden Club has dedicated the past 27 years to talking and promoting all things gardening! The club hosts its annual Garden Tour on the first Saturday in June. Residents of Crescent Hill generously open their gardens to share their love of gardening and showcase their efforts for all to enjoy. It has become a neighborhood tradition, offering gardening enthusiasts the opportunity to experience creative gardening in urban spaces and gain inspiration for their own outdoor space. All proceeds from the tour go back into the community in various ways.
Beautification Projects
Over the years we have provided funding for a number of beautification projects in Crescent Hill. Below are some of those community projects.
The Peterson-Dumesnil House Wedding Garden
The wedding garden at the Peterson-Dumesnil House was one of our major projects, constructed over several years. Tour proceeds allowed us to provide many unique and remarkable plants and trees for the Peterson-Dumesnil wedding garden and grounds.

Other Projects
We provided perennials and shrubs for the renovation of Kennedy Court Park, contributed trees and perennials to Barret Middle School, and funded the planting of trees, shrubs and perennials to beautify the North Hite median, the Reservoir Park entrance and Frankfort Avenue bus stops.
The Crescent Hill Garden Club has also sponsored educational programs on garden design and practices. We have donated garden books and periodicals to the Crescent Hill Branch of the Louisville Free Public Library, funded a program to plant rare and unusual trees in the neighborhood, donated funds to Operation Brightside, and conducted an award program to recognize horticultural excellence.
